Welcome to our F.A.Q. and Recommendations Page!
We understand and KNOW that getting a puppy can be an exciting time but also a nervous time in your life, So many questions and concerns. Well hopefully this page will help you with some of those questions you may have. But don't be afraid to ask us anything you may be thinking of? These questions listed below are questions that have been asked to us and feel like it should be shared.
How much time should we plan for pick up day? Can we ask you questions in person?
- Please plan for around one hour with us. We go over a lot of information and have a lot to share with you. Plus if you have any questions, we will answer them for you. Plus Grandma Laura will want to hug your new puppy for about 10-20 minutes before you are allowed to leave. LOL
What kind of dog food you do you feed the puppies?
- We start our puppies on Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy food. This can be found at Menards. We feed our adult dogs Wholesome Sensitive Skin and Stomach. This can be found at local feed stores and Chewy.
Why do you start the puppies on Diamond Naturals but your dogs are on Wholesome?
- We understand our families don't want to spend $50 on a bag of dog food so we want to make sure we offer our families different options. You can't go wrong with either brand but we prefer Wholesome. But Diamond is a great company who is based in the United States.
What should we feed our puppy after they get old enough for adult dog food?
- If you stay on Diamond Naturals - stay with them. Diamond Naturals Large Breed Adult Dog Food. Our dogs are on NutriSource and Wholesome Sensitive Skin and Stomach with Salmon.
At what age should we move from puppy food to adult food?
- We would recommend talking to your vet but with our big boy Atlas, he was growing so fast we moved him off puppy food to adult dog food around 7-8 months of age. Most dog food brands recommend at 12 months. Some breeders and vets say don't they have to start on puppy food. We recommend starting on puppy food and see how s/he is growing and make those adjustments. You can always ask us and we would be willing to assist you with anything we can.
Should we give supplements to our new family member?
- We give our pups supplements. We give our pups some kind of skin/coat supplement that provides Omega 3/6 and Salmon Oil for them. There are so many different options out there - just do a search on Amazon. We also use something called PetNC Natural Care. We use this for the glucosamine for our dogs hips and joints.
What toys do you recommend?
- First off we would like our families to buy from Lumabone! Click here for their website. Why do we support them? They donate to us every time we send them a message, if that is for our new families or to make a donation to our local animal shelter. We know you can find them in Sam's Club, Target and ordering from their website.
We also recommend interactive toys for them such as Kong and Starmark Everlasting Treat Ball Dog Chew. These two keep our pups entertained for awhile!
Are there any Facebook groups out there with information for us and to show off our new puppy?
- Oh yes there is! "Silver Labs", Silver, Charcoal, Champagne Labrador Retrievers and More", "AKC Silver, Charcoal and Champagne Labrador Retrievers" and "Silver Labrador Retrievers" - Don't be afraid to post pictures of your new family member in there and make sure you tag us! @ALLNLABRADORS
Do you have a Facebook or Instagram Page?
- Yes we do! Facebook - ALL'N Labradors and Instagram - allnlabradors - Give us a "LIKE" on both!
Can you ship a puppy to us since we live so far away?
- Yes we can arrange shipping to you. We have a awesome flight nanny we can recommend to you. You would work directly with her to have your new family member delivered to you. Our puppies are in Wyoming, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Kansas, Maryland and Nebraska!
My puppy is eating so fast, is there a way to slow them down?
- Yes, you should get a slow feeder. If you go to any pet store they should have them or even Amazon. Just search for "Dog Slow Feeder".
How much should I feed my new puppy and what time during the day?
- You should break your feedings up to twice a day. We would recommend the first feeding around 6 am and second feeding around 3 pm. This will help with crate training at night. Would also recommend taking water away from the puppy around 5/6 pm. Based off of what the dog food packaging says is how much you should be feeding your new pup. If your pup is gaining to much weight (getting big boned), we recommend decreasing dog food.
